Mortar

In masonry construction, mortar is a substance used to fill the spaces between the bricks and blocks. Sand, a binder like cement or lime, and water are combined to make mortar, which is applied as a paste and then hardens. For cement-soil mortars, cement mortar, and cement-lime mortar, the properties of mortars such as workability, compressive strength, water retentivity, drying shrinkage, and stress-strain relationships are established.
